It is important to check the documents and health requirements necessary to enter the country.

Identity card
A valid passport or identity card is always necessary to enter the country.
The Schengen countries permit freedom of travel within their borders.
A valid identity card is necessary for entry into all other EU countries. Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey accept an identity card for entry into their countries only if the travellers are part of a trip organised by a Tour Operator.

Passport
A valid passport allows entry to all countries where the government is recognised by that of Italy. Some countries require an additional visa. Passports are normally valid for 10 years but in some cases may be provided for shorter periods. Annual renewal with payment of the € 30,99 fee is no longer required for travel within the European Union.

Passport for United States of Americ:
Passengers travelling on return flights and staying no longer than 90 days, whether on holiday or on business, can take advantage of the Visa Waiver
Programme and enter the USA without the need for a visa.

Valid passports for this programme are as follows:

  • machine-readable passports issued or renewed before October 26, 2005;
  • machine-readable passports with digitized photographs issued after October 26, 2005 but prior to October 26, 2006;
  • "e-passports" issued on or after October 26, 2005.
